Preparing Answers For Job Interview Questions

Job interviews can be a stressful & worrying experience for plenty of candidates, but those who have prepared & thought about the answers they can give to likely questions will often find the experience a lot simpler. Candidates who have attended several interviews can sometimes suffer from a lack of confidence having failed in their earlier interviews, but they will usually find plenty of questions are the same or similar & ought to be better prepared. For candidates who are not used to being in an interview situation it is even more important to think about the questions they may be asked & be able to provide satisfactory answers without hesitation. The following list includes some common questions asked by plenty of interviewers & how to prepare answers:

Tell me about yourself: the interviewer will need to know more about you than they can read from your resume so tell them about the kind of person you are. Speak about your achievements, those from earlier jobs which are relevant to the position applied for & any outstanding achievements from sports or other personal activities. Give examples, saying you are a high achiever or a lovely team worker means nothing without proof so back up any claims. Think about what they are looking for in this job & emphasise your relevant qualities.

Why did you leave / looking to leave your earlier / current employer: the answer may well be redundancy, which is obviously self-explanatory. If have or are looking to resign be honest about the reasons but try not to be negative about the company, speak about the positives; what have you learned from working there & how those skills & experiences can benefit a used employer.

Why would you like this job: do your research about the company & about the job role & prepare answers to describe why you are suited to both the job & to the company. Wage may be an attraction but speaking about money won't often generate a lovely impression, in lieu speak about career prospects & progression.

What are your strengths & weaknesses: think about the qualities you have demonstrated in earlier jobs such as achieving targets, meeting tight deadlines, resolving conflicts in the workplace, going the additional mile for customers. Do not reel off a list of typical strengths you think they are going to be looking for, be able to give examples. When speaking about weaknesses, be honest, the worst answer you can give to say none or even worse 'I'm a perfectionist'. All of us have weaknesses but the important thing is to identify them & to work to overcome them, tell the interviewer the way you are working towards this.

Gaps in employment: gaps are usually covered in a resume, however an interviewer in the event you have been out of work for a long time period they might need to know why & what you have been doing. If your finances allowed for a break describe this & what you have been doing e.g. travelling, home improvement, voluntary work, looking after kids etc. In the event you have been temporary work again tell the interviewer & although unemployment can be a difficult time always try to turn the negatives in to positives.

Interviews can vary greatly from company to another & they have all been caught out with some weird & awkward questions but the above questions are common in most interviews, sometimes not asked in the same format but these are questions every interviewer ought to need answering.
